Biography
David R. Hatch received his bachelor's and master's in civil engineering in 1976 and 1978, respectively. He has worked as a project engineer and district engineer with the City of Portland in traffic management areas, including light rail and streetcar traffic signals, and traffic signal construction and operation on the west side of Portland. He has been an instructor for the Transportation Research Institute at Oregon State University and serves as a Tribal Councilman for the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon. He started the American Indian Science and Engineering Society student chapter at OSU in 1981 and was a founding member of the Willamette/Columbia Professional Chapter in Portland. Hatch has been instrumental in promoting other activities to bring Oregon's Native American young persons into the engineering profession.
